NBA was formed in 1984 and has been in operation since March 1985 when it acquired the Anguilla branch of the Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association.

Since then, it has expanded its operations across the Anguillian financial services sector primarily through investments in an insurance company, a data processing company and a credit card processor.
