HISTORY
Anguilla was colonised in 1650 by British settlers from St Kitt’s and was administred as part of the Leeward islands and then represented in the St Kitt’s legislative House of Assembly until 1871, when the island became part of a federation with St Kitt’s.
In 1882, Nevis joined the two islands and the tristate was named St Christopher-Nevis with no mention of Anguilla until 1951!
Anguilla finally became formally separaterd from St Kitt’s in 1980.

Today Anguilla remains a british dependant territory with a Governor and a Ministerial system of Government.
